Average Overtime Hours per Employee
Time
The average number of overtime hours worked by an employee within a specified period, commonly monthly or annually.
Frequent and prolonged overtime might indicate issues such as understaffing, unrealistic expectations, or inefficient workflows. While occasional overtime might be necessary, consistently high levels can lead to burnout and decreased employee well-being.
Formula
Total number of overtime hours worked by all employees / Total number of employees
Example
In a month, if employees in a department of 50 people clock in 200 overtime hours in total, the average overtime per employee is 4 hours.
